What I aspire for? Ghazal 441 from Deewan Shams Tabrizi, by Rumi

Manifest your face, for I aspire for the flowers and gardens therein;
Unclasp your lips, for I aspire for the nectar therein.
Come out from behind the clouds, O shining sun
for I aspire for your glittering, glowing countenance
Beckoning breeze gushed out of the falcon-drum; I heard
and rushed back, for I aspired to perch on the sultan's forearm.
Full of coquetry you said "Trouble me no more; be gone!"
I aspire to hear that utterance always "Trouble me no more"
And your rebuff, "Be gone, the king is not at home,"
and those mighty airs and brusqueness of the doorkeeper, are what I aspire for.
In the hand of every one who exists there are mineral elements of beauty
I aspire for those from the mine of elegance .
This bread and water of heavens wheel are like a treacherous torrent;
I am a fish, an unfettered endless Ocean is what I aspire for
Like Jacob I am seeking
the fair visage of Joseph of Canaan.
By Allah, without you the city is a prison for me;
I aspire to wander abroad in the mountains and deserts
My heart is weary of these weak-spirited fellow-travellers;
I aspire for the the Lion of God and Rustam of lore.
My soul is sick of Pharaoh and his tyranny;
I aspire for that light of the countenance of Moses
I am a weary of these miserable people so full of complaints;
I aspire for the incoherent utterances of the intoxicated
I am more eloquent than the nightingale, but because of vulgar envy
a seal is on my tongue and I aspire for lamentation
Yesterday (in broad daylight) the shaikh went all about the city, lamp in hand,
crying, "I am weary of beast and devil", and I aspire for a Man
They said, "He is not to be found, we too have searched."
He answered, "I aspire for him, who may not be found (easily)"
Though I am penniless, I will not accept an ordinary gem,
I aspire for that rare, precious carnelian.
Hidden from every eye, and all things seen are from Him—
I aspire to see the hidden One manifest in works
My state has gone beyond every desire and yearning;
From mine and place to the elements.
My ear heard the tale of faith and became drunk;
where is the portion of sight? I aspire for that faith
In one hand the winecup, in the other the Beloved's curl
I aspire to dance so in the midst of the arena."
That rabab says, "I am dead of expectation;
and I aspire for the hand and bosom and plectrum of Uthman (Sharaf al-Din-i Qavval the minstrel)
I am at once Love's rabab, and Love is my rabab-player;
I aspire for those favors of the plucking of the All-merciful.
Cunning minstrel, number the rest of this ode after this fashion,
for it is after this fashion I seek.
Show your face from the east, Sun of the Pride of Tabriz;
I am the hoopoe, the presence of Solomon is my hope and aspiration.

Qaseedah of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jeelani (May Allah be pleased with him)

One of the poems (Qaseedah) of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jeelani (May Allah be pleased with him)

Whatever source of sweetness exists in intense love, mine is the most delicious and the most delicate

However special any rank may be in love’s embrace, my station is yet more splendid and more intimate.

The days have bestowed on me their lustrous purity, so the drink from their springs is pleasing to the palate.

I am now the fiancé of every noble lady, who has not been discovered and proposed to by an eligible candidate.

I am the kind of man whose companion is never worried, and can never see any reason to be afraid or hesitate.

For such there is an escorting retinue in every army, and in every domain of dignity they hold a lofty estate.

As the bulbul of all young birds, I fill their nests with song, and as the Falcon I soar and levitate..

The armies of love are subject to my will, obedient, gallant, and ever intact, so that they never separate.

I abstained from entertaining hope and expectation, or looking for something promised on a certain date.

I continued to graze in the pastures of contentment, until I was granted a status that has no duplicate.

Then Time became like a garment finely embroidered, we being the gilded stitches that made it immaculate.

The suns of the ancients have set, but our own Sun, in its orbit up on high, will never cease to radiate.
